Button, who started 7th on the grid, worked his way up through the grid, after having a action packed race with the weather and the collisions, Button pushes Vettel to make a mistake and passes Vettel on the last lap to take victory.

Button also collided with Alonso, who was on the outside of the track, Alonso did not give way and they both collided - Button escaping with a puncture and forcing Alonso to retire.

He commented after passing the chequered flag:

"Thank you so much, fantastic win, thank you guys so much," he added in an interview after the race;

"I really don't know what to say, it's been a very emotional three hours or whatever it's been since the start. The incident with Lewis - I couldn't see anything and I've apologised to him. It was really a fight from then on, but I kept on pushing and I managed to get past Seb at the end. Another great win for me and possibly my best.”

He also got the fastest lap of the race with a time of 1:16.956 on the second to last lap.

Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren team principal commented:

“What a race. Coming through six times from 21st is incredible. He is driving fantastically and we know he deserves it and hope everyone else does too. He just attacked and attacked and delivered a fantastic race."

On lap 8, exiting the last corner, Hamilton gets a better exit from the corner and goes to pass Button on the inside, Button not seeing his team mate collides with Hamilton. Lewis then continued to drive as it was only a puncture, the team thought there was suspension damage thus telling him to retire.

Hamilton commented during the break in the rain:

"He kept moving across - whether or not he saw me I don't know, then I was in the wall."

An unhappy Sebastian Vettel who finished second commented:

"If you have it in your hands and give it away it is not the sweetest feeling."  He added

"Of course I'm disappointed. It was a very difficult race from start to finish. We led every single lap apart from the last one."

Team mate Mark Webber deprived legendary driver Michael Schumacher a podium finish after overtaking him on the last lap.

Vitaly Petrov placed 5th and Felipe Massa came in 6th position.

The next race is the European Grand Prix that will take place on the 26th June 2011.
