Demand For Winter Tyres Increase

Kwik Fit have announced since the launch of their fleet car program, they have seen a increase in supply for winter tyres.

UK based company Kwik Fit launched the Kwik-Fit Fleet winter tyre programmed in September and since October they have reported that sales of winter tyres have increased to a staggering 2,200 tyres fitted in a week.

They also report that they fear a global tyre shortage due to the increased demand of the winter tyres this year. Peter Lambert, Sales Director of Kwik Fit said:

“We have been advising our fleet customers since September to order winter tyres if they require them.” he added

“While some organisations were quick off the mark, others have still to make a final decision. The rate at which our technicians are fitting winter tyres is growing daily, however with the first serious winter weather having arrived, the time has come to be decisive.”

“Since we announced our winter tyre programme we have been inundated with calls from public and private sector fleets wanting to equip vehicles with appropriate tyres that are better suited to cold weather, ice and snow conditions.”

One of the members of the fleet program, British Gas have fitted winter tyres to more than 200 vans that operate in the Scottish Highlands and the Peak District for the first time to ensure that driver safety is a priority and to improve their emergency call out service.

Kwik Fit also offer a ‘hotel’ facility, where they will remove, pack, label and store each company car or van’s tyres at its National Distribution Centre. In the spring, you can take your car back to Kwik fit for the winter tyres to be removed and stored until they are needed again.
