Red-Bull Racing One-Two In Turkey

Sebastian Vettel keeps his place at the top of the leader board by winning this weekends race in Turkey.

Vettel finished 8 seconds before team mate Mark Webber to secure his 25 points to keep him 40 points ahead of second place driver Lewis Hamilton.

Vettel commented:

"We had a smooth race, a very good start and then I was able to pull a gap in the first stint, which was crucial as that let us stay out a lap longer than the others - we always had a cushion."

Vettel started the race from pole position, with Nico Rosberg with a fantastic start taking second place before the first corner.

Rosberg commented after the race:

“It has been a positive weekend for us… things will improve with the team”

He said that he is happy with the result as he finished in front of Button.

Button had problems with preserving tyres and also a problem in the pits, where one of the wheel nuts that hold the wheel on was cross threaded, meaning that they could not get the wheel on fast enough. He did drive an amazing race with some brave overtaking on the outside of turn 14 where Button overtook Rosberg on the Outside of the track.

Button commented after the race:

"Most people were probably on my strategy initially, but because most of them damaged their tyres in the first stint they changed their strategy, we didn't but we didn't leave our stop until late enough. We should have stayed out longer because the last stint was impossible having so many laps on the hard tyre. You're not racing any more because the difference in speed is unbelievable. They just come past you and you can't do anything. It's a pity to finish so far back but strategy wise something we did wrong."

Hamilton had a good start but tries to bully Webber but goes wide and is overtaken by Alonso and Button, Hamilton ends up in sixth position before the second lap. After a good pit stop and some great driving, Hamilton finishes the race in 4th position.

He commented that he had too much front wing on the car at the start, he mentions that he had great pace at the beginning, but running too much front wing caused him to understeer.

Hamilton commented:

“"Pit-stops are somewhere we can always improve but I lost a lot of ground when I tried to go down the outside of Webber at the start of the race, I had a good start and I should have been up to third and battling for second, but it wasn't to be. Jenson was fair as always as we battled but when I got past Jenson I just found I had nothing left in my tyres and had to stop again."”

The next race is the Spanish Grand Prix that will take place on the 22nd May at 1300 GMT.
