Vettel Wins Italian Grand Prix

This weekend saw another win for German driver Vettel. Increasing his lead by another 25 points.

Sebastian Vettel started in pole position and finished in pole position after a dry race. Claiming his 18th win.

After a bad start, Vettel ended up in second by the first corner. Battling Alonso on lap 5, Vettel managed to overtake Alonso after a 200mph chase.

Vettel commented after the race:

"The podium is unbelievable. You feel so blessed. The view is incredible, with all the people below. The car was amazing in qualifying - and ever better today. It's very special for me to win here again."

Team mate Mark Webber retired on lap 6 after a collision with Ferrari driver Massa.

British driver Jenson Button finished in second position after battling Alonso after he complained that he had no traction from the tyres.

Alonso commented:

"Well done to the whole team. There was a lot of stress racing here in Italy. But we did the best job possible. It's a great achievement to get on the podium."

Team-mate Hamilton got a good start at the beginning of the race before the yellow flag was shown. After a exciting battle with Michael Schumacher that was overlooked by the marshalls, he finally overtook him to gain 4th position.

Hamilton commented:

"It was a good race. I got some points and I finished, so I can't complain at all." He added about the Schumacher incident;

"It was racing,"

Ross Brawn, Mercedes Boss commented:

"Michael drove a fantastic race, we know we haven't got the fastest car but we have seen everything we know about Michael Schumacher. The FIA were watching it [the incident with Lewis Hamilton] and asking us to be careful. It is a balance between racing and not overstepping the mark. They asked us to be careful, which we were. It was great racing - and great for F1."

Schumacher finished the race in 5th position.

The two Ferrari drivers Alonso and Massa finishing in 3rd and 6th respectively.

Now leading the championship by a massive 112 points, could Vettel be the youngest double world champion?
