Vettel Wins Malaysian Grand Prix

Sebastian Vettel has secured his second win this season this weekend at the Malaysian Grand Prix collecting 25 points on his way.

This win comes after having troubles with the KERS system, both Red Bull-Renault cars suffered from the KERS failure, but the team did not discuss this over the radio as other teams would soon realise that the Red Bull-Renault cars were carrying extra weight for no reason.

Finishing second place came Jenson Button only three seconds behind the leader. In third place came Nick Heidfeld in the Renault.

Vitaly Petrov had a spectacular incident when he ran wide on lap 53, ended up on the grass and launching himself in the air and when landing, snapping the steering column.

Alonso and Hamilton were both given 20 second penalties, Alonso for causing a crash when he crashed into Hamilton trying to overtake and Hamilton for changing direction whilst defending - or also known as blocking.

Hamilton commented after the race:

"This is racing, I guess. I started second and did everything I could to keep up and I don't really have too much to say. A the start I got stuck behind Heidfeld, I had Jenson on my inside and Heidfeld on my outside so squashed into Turn One. It was difficult to defend without hitting them. Through the race, my tyres went off, we boxed too early, that made us box earlier again, all the time we were boxing early. My tyres were done on the end. It was just one of those days."

Christian Horner Red Bull team boss said:

"I think Sebastian was coolest guy out there - his composure, the way he controlled the race, the way he looked after his tyres. We had options to do three or four stops, and he gave us those options - it was a really mature drive. We forget he's just 23 years old - he can only just rent a hire car! He's gaining more experience and just continues to get better."

The next race is the Chinese Grand Prix in Shanghai on the 17th April at 8am GMT.
