Jaguar Release New C-X16 Concept Car

Jaguar have released official pictures of their new concept car - the C-X16.

The new Jaguar will be the small sized sports car to rival the Porsche Boxster, Mercedes SLK and similar sized cars.

Powered by a new 3.0 supercharged V6 producing around 375bhp and over 330lb/ft of torque, attached to the engine is a electric motor, which at a press of a button on the steering wheel, aptly named ‘push to pass’ - releases another 95bhp and a massive amount of torque for up to 10 seconds. This technology is similar to what is found on formula one ‘KERS’ systems. The engine is attached to a 8-speed automatic gearbox

Official figures from Jaguar are 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds and the top speed limited to 186mph - yet at this speed, the fuel economy has been quoted from Jaguar at 41mpg on a combined cycle.

The bodywork is loosely based on the current XK, but smaller and ‘more perfected’.  The rear lights curve around the rear end of the car, this is done by using LED lighting instead of the conventional bulbs. Being launched 50 years after the classic E-Type Jaguar, designer Ian Callum has put distinctive features on the C-X16 - such as a side opening rear screen.

Jaguar are keen to launch this as a road going version next year priced around the £50,000 mark.
