Toyota Group Recall

Toyota Group Recall

Toyota UK and Lexus UK have both announced a voluntary recall for their cars. The Toyota Avensis models and Lexus IS250.

The models affected in the Toyota models are the 2.0litre and the 2.4litre petrol engines produced between July 2000 and September 2008. The recall relates to the fuel pipes and fuel pump, to which in rare cases, small cracks may appear and result in leaking fuel.

There has been no accidents or incidents related to this condition Toyota claim. Toyota UK will be working with VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) to contact owners of potentially affected models.

The Lexus model affected is the petrol powered IS250, produced between August 2007 and February 2009. The Lexus IS250 recall is also fuel related, but the affected part is the fuel pressure sensor, which could loosen and potential create a fuel leak. Lexus UK have confirmed that no incidents have occurred relating to this matter.

The recall will involve repairing the fuel pressure sensor, but if fuel is found to be leaking, a new gasket will be replaced which will take approximately three hours

Again Lexus UK will be working with VOSA to contact the 3,100 owners in the UK to get this problem resolved.

Belinda Poole, Director Lexus UK, said:

“We are committed to putting the customer first and have a total focus on the quality of all our products. We will liaise with our customers to carry out the repair procedures as efficiently as possible, with minimal disruption.”
