Europcar Orders 500 Electric Cars


After our report last week about electric cars and how local governments will help purchasers of the vehicles with incentives, Europcar the car rental company have confirmed orders of 500 electric cars.


At the Geneva Motor Show, Renault showcased their new cars, the ‘Z.E’ range - which stands for Zero Emissions. The four models, the Fluence Z.E is a Laguna sized 4 door saloon, the Zoe Z.E is a compact 4-seater, the Kangoo Z.E which is a fully electric van and finally the Twizy Z.E a city car that seats one

Europcar confirmed that orders of 500 electric cars for delivery in 2011 will be available to rent in cities across Europe

Rafael Girona, Chief Operating Officer of Europcar Groupe said:


“Europcar reaches a decisive point in bringing electric vehicles into the rental market; they will join the eco-friendly fleet that already features on our web sites.” he added


“The interaction between our network and Renault’s technology will genuinely pave the way for a major advance in mobility solutions. With the addition to its fleet of the Renault Fluence Z.E. and Kangoo Z.E. models from 2011 and then Zoë Z.E. in 2012, Europcar is giving substance even more tangibly to the commitments set forth in its Charter for the Environment”


All the Z.E range will be available to lease from 2011 for the Fluence, Kangoo and 2012 for the Zoe Z.E.
