Ford Dominate Fleet And Lease Car Market

Recent figures have shown that Ford is continuing to build up a lead in fleet and lease cars in 2010. With increasing figures, can Ford top Volkswagen figure for last year?

For years the competition of manufacturers for lease cars have been between Ford and Vauxhall, this has been for many years even in motor sport in the BTCC era. Ford is now after figures to beat the VW group.

With the VW group being one of the biggest in the world, Ford believe that they are a bigger threat to them rather than the GM group.

Toyota fleet sales have dropped by 17% - this is unanswered for but the major recall may have something to do with the figures.

Peugeot and Citroen are still strong in the market with many Peugeot 407 and Citroen C5 becoming fleet vehicles for companies.

Following is a table for the top 5 fleet registrations in February.

Manufacturer  2010     2009
Ford 7,671 6,932
Vauxhall 5,801 8,077
Volkswagen           3,614 3,533
Audi 2,069 1,847

The results do show a growing trend in car leasing as some of the results show an increase of 90% except for the VW group which sales did decline.
