Toyota Announce Recall
Toyota have announced that they will recall a number of Toyota iQ models in the UK to modify software used to control the cars electric power steering system.
The cars that are affected are built between 11th September 2008 and 22nd October 2010. The issue is with the sensor of the EPS (electric power steering) system, when you drive your car over the rumble strips on the road, the computer may interpret this as an error and show a warning light on the dashboard. The driver of the car would need to apply more effort to steer the car.
The fault was originally found in Japan, where no accidents have been recorded for this defect. The recall will take approximately 2 hours to fix with no cost to the customer.
Toyota will be working with VOSA (Vehicle and Operator Services Agency) to contact owners of the iQ and tell them how to get the car booked in at your local Toyota workshop
Jon Williams, MD of Toyota GB PLC commented:
“We are committed to putting the customer first and have a total focus on the quality of all our products. We will liaise with our customers to carry out the repair procedures as efficiently as possible, with minimal disruption.”
